Wye Valley Cottage, Symonds Yat  home Walking This unique area of Britain with its ancient forests, incredible mix of rare birds and plants combined with stunning scenery makes it one of the most exciting walking locations in Europe. Symonds Yat has much to offer those wanting a short gentle stroll along the flat river bank paths as well as the more energetic adventurers amongst you. Walking maps are made available from within the cottage, however Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure 14 map: Wye Valley and Forest of Dean is probably the best tool for navigating the area on foot. Below are a few examples of the walks available starting from the front door of the cottage Circular Walk via Symonds Yat East to West Open the front door of the cottage, turn right and walk through the ornamental gardens down to the pathway, and onto the forest footpath signposted to Biblins bridge. After a gentle 15-20 minute stroll along the river bank you come to the Biblins suspension bridge (for walkers only). Cross over the bridge and take the footpath signposted to Symonds Yat East and walk along the river bank on the other side until you break out of the tree canopy reaching either the Saracens Head pub or Rose Cottage where you can either stop for lunch, coffee, cream tea or a well deserved pint. Here you can wait for the hand ferry man to pull you back across the river and to a little further down the same road a couple of minutes from your cottage door.
